Most of my commissions involve at least 8 months of work,often with additional preparatory research when I visit the location to work on ideas for the final painting.
When I'm coming up with ideas for the painting I tend to create many ideas for the commission, only one of which I completed for the client. However, I still have all my source materials, so I have many other paintings ready to start on.
