Immerse yourself in an exhibition that celebrates the nurturing role the countryside plays in all our lives... created with my greatest appreciation & respect for the sense of the Sublime that only Nature can provide.

Renowned Bridport artist Kit Glaisyer is presenting his 2nd exhibition at the Jubilee Hall, Poundbury with a 12-day exhibition of his evocative West Dorset landscape paintings from Weds 16 - Sun 27 October.

The exhibition offers a captivating journey through West Dorset in a series of richly engaging oil paintings that vividly capture the very essence of Hardy country.

Kit is a well-known, Dorset-born artist who grew up in rural Dorset. He learnt to paint alongside his father, winning an Art Scholarship to Sherborne School, then going to college in Bournemouth, then Farnham, before moving to London. A few years later he returned to live in Bridport, where he now runs his own gallery at 11 Downes Street, which he opens every Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

His painting process begins with an Impressionist touch, capturing the immediacy of a fleeting moment. He then methodically applies thin paint layers over several weeks or months, creating vibrant tapestries of light and colour, a patient approach to painting that harks back to 19th-century European Romantic artists and the British landscape tradition of JMW Turner and John Constable.

In 'Cinematic Landscape Paintings,' Kit offers a moving visual journey, presenting a lively contemporary expression evocative of Claude Monet, David Hockney, and Gerhard Richter.
